EndoSoundTM, Inc., is a privately held company based in Portland, Oregon with additional offices in Boca Raton, Florida. EndoSound is dedicated to expanding access to endoscopic ultrasound technology around the world. With its patented design, EndoSound transforms any flexible upper endoscope into a fully functional EUS scope. It is comprised of an experienced team of scientists and engineers, clinicians, and seasoned business professionals with a track record of bringing new medical devices to market.

Our Team

Stephen Steinberg, MD

Founder & Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Steinberg’s 40-year professional career has focused on the use of endoscopes to perform diagnostic and therapeutic gastrointestinal procedures. He has performed thousands of EUS procedures, mentored numerous clinicians and trainees and served as a key opinion leader (KOL) for the major endoscope and medical device companies. Dr. Steinberg graduated Cornell University Magna Cum Laude in physics and Johns Hopkins School of Medicine with honors. He spent 30 years in academic medicine, reaching the rank of full Professor of Medicine and Surgery. He is the co-inventor for EndoSound’s patent awards.

Scott Corbett

Founder & Chief Technology Officer

Mr. Corbett has over 30 years’ experience in the ultrasound industry as a biomedical engineer/executive and is co-founder of three biomedical companies. He has served on national standards committees for ultrasound safety and measurement and has held senior engineering/management positions at Precision Interconnect (now Tyco Healthcare), GE Medical Ultrasound Division, and Sonivate. He earned a B.A. in Physics from Occidental College and an M.S. in Acoustics from Penn State University. He is a co-inventor of EndoSound’s device and holds 19 patents.

Josh Cohn

Chief Commercial Officer

Josh Cohn has 16 years of experience in the medical device field, rising to National Sales Director of PENTAX Medical, a major endoscope provider. He has a strong history of leading successful sales organizations, building winning strategies, and launching disruptive programs aimed at changing marketplace convention. As product champion and strategist for all EUS sales, he has attended hundreds of procedures, and has established relationships with key opinion leaders, hospital and ASC administrators and device distributers. In his current role as CCO, Josh will be responsible for the pre-and-post-commercialization sales and marketing strategy, designed to ensure the integrated commercial success of the organization.

Paul Henwood

Chief Operations Officer

Mr. Henwood is an experienced leader in growing early- and mid-stage companies to success. He has expertise in many areas of business, starting as a young ultrasound transducer engineer, then transitioning into management with a variety of startups all along increasing his management roles. He has developed deep functional awareness of how technology companies operate and succeed. His last two roles have been as CEO and/or President. At MicroConnex, he was instrumental in guiding a successful sale to a strategic buyer.

Patrick Hurley, Ph.D.

Vice President of Marketing

Dr. Hurley comes with 13 years in product and market management in medical device, as well as several years as a life sciences consultant. Patrick has documented successes in each role as he continued to grow with responsibilities. In his last role, he was instrumental in building a GI marketing team and in planning
and executing launches of GI products. He has helped build brand identity and established strong relationships with KOLs in the GI community. He holds a Ph.D in biology, specializing in neuroscience from Wesleyan University.

Christen Springs

Chief Strategy Consultant

Mr. Springs serves as a chief strategy consultant advising in areas of pre-commercial project development and industry engagement. In addition to his work with EndoSound, he is the Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Houston based EndoRx Medical, a medical device development and management consulting firm specializing in advanced endoscopy. Christen has 20 years of medical device experience in sales, marketing, product management, and executive leadership.

Patrick Herriman

Director Quality Assurance

Patrick serves as Senior Program Manager for the company’s product development efforts and holds the title of Director Quality Assurance responsible for EndoSound’s Quality Management System and Design Control. Patrick has 30 years of medical device experience with over 20 years at Siemens Ultrasound. Filling multiple leadership and executive roles in Engineering, Project Management and Quality he has successfully driven dozens of projects through product release while ensuring compliance to worldwide Medical Device Standards and Regulations. He earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Gonzaga University, an M.S. in Bioengineering from the University of Washington, and an M.B.A. from Seattle University.

Sam Ishizaka

Director of Operations

Sam joins Endosound as the Director of Operations and is responsible for EndoSound’s overall manufacturing activities and supply chain management. Sam has over 25 years of experience with medical device manufacturing and has a proven track record of scaling multiple companies from start-up to acquisition. He earned his BS in Manufacturing Engineering from Oregon Institute of Technology.

Peter Hoffman

Sr. Product Development Engineer

In his role as Sr. Product Development Engineer, Peter will help to bring new and innovative ultrasound
products to market. His 10+ years engineering experience ranges from robotics to medical devices with much of his time at Olympus developing novel biopsy tools for the lungs. He has authored 6 patent applications. Peter holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Business and Entrepreneurship from Oregon State University.

Jeremy Hammer

Product Development Manager

Jeremy serves as Product Development Manager for the company’s engineering and development efforts and is responsible for risk management throughout the design process. Jeremy has worked as an engineer in the medical device industry for 7 years. He has designed and innovated multiple electro-mechanical medical devices that are currently on the market. He has extensive experience with Quality Management Systems and is a certified internal auditor for ISO 13485:2016 and FDA 21 CFR 820. He has authored 8 patent applications. Jeremy holds a BS in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Utah.

Dr. Isaac L. Raijman is a Board-certified gastroenterologist in Houston, Texas and is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area, including Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center and Houston Methodist Hospital. He has been in practice for more than 25 years.
He attended medical school at Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico. Interned in Internal Medicine, Mount Sinai Medical Center, Milwaukee Clinical Campus, University of Wisconsin. He did his residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center, Milwaukee Clinical Campus, University of Wisconsin, with a fellowship at Department of Gastroenterology, University of Texas at Houston, and Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy, The Wellesley Hospital, Toronto, Canada.

Dr Raijman’s clinical approach is patient-centered, with application of best-practice medicine integrated with knowledge and skills acquired over many years of practice.  His goal is to provide compassionate care, comprehensive diagnosis and management within an atmosphere of comfort and trust for my patients.

Dr. Shyam Varadarajulu is a board-certified gastroenterologist specializing in advanced endoscopy at the Orlando Health Digestive Health Institute Center for Advanced Endoscopy, Research & Education. He treats complex digestive disorders and serves as president of Orlando Health’s Digestive Health Institute.

His clinical interests and notable procedures includes Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), luminal interventions, pancreatic endotherapy and tumor ablation

Dr. Varadarajulu earned his medical degree at Madras Medical College in India. He followed this with a residency in internal medicine at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, New York. He then completed his gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Connecticut in Farmington, and a fellowship in advanced endoscopy at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston under the tutelage of Drs. Peter Cotton and Robert Hawes.

As a principal investigator of more than 20 randomized trials related to interventional endoscopy, Dr. Varadarajulu also has lectured and held visiting professorships around the world. He has authored 65 chapters in reference textbooks, including the electronic reference UpToDate, and he is the editor of the textbook ENDOSONOGRAPHY. In addition, he has written more than 300 peer-reviewed manuscripts in high-impact journals and is a reviewer for more than 30 professional journals. He is a former section editor for the American Gastroenterological Association journal, Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology; and deputy editor-in-chief of Digestive Endoscopy.

Dr. Varadarajulu is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association, American College of Gastroenterology and American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy; an honorary member of the European Endoscopic Ultrasound Club and Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy of India; and an honorary fellow of the Japanese Gastroenterological Endoscopy Society.
